URANUS

{mosimage}

The planet Uranus represents sudden energy, the urge to be free and to do one’s thing; it also rules much of technology, science, and mathematics. Uranus can have a stimulating or stressful effect on the human nervous/emotional system, it’s influence can be found to coincide with such things as riots and social/political uprisings.

Another idea behind Uranus is that of Brotherhood, and further, that of Love and how people should act towards each other.  The feeling of love here is not one of exclusive or possessive relationships (which have a great karmic component, and may have almost nothing to do with love), but rather a love that is not conditioned by factors of race, gender, nationality, or socio/economic status.  In Uranus’s eyes, all are on an equal level.

The negatives connected to Uranus are over-rebelliousness, eccentricity, and overt anti-social behavor; such people may have a distrust of authority figures, and may have trouble taking orders and are very independent, if not overly so.

Uranus sees the status quo as the ultimate death of individuality, and Uranus’s energy serves to break up or shatter overly rigid social structures, paving the way for new and progressive forms of social/political expression; consequently, Uranus sees itself also as an iconoclast, the “breaker of images”.  Sometimes Uranus-ruled people will flaunt social conventions such as styles of dress, or other rules of “normalcy”.

Uranus transits or progression indicate times of discontent but also of a finding of one’s own uniqueness in relation to others.  During Uranus times one seems to gravitate to groups of people with similar attitudes and perspectives, in other words, friends.  It is during these times that one develops a greater appreciation for freedom, and of finding one’s “self”.

Uranus is modern outer planet; and, as such, does not fit into the traditional scheme of astrological rulerships.  Uranus, however, has a great affinity to the sign of AQUARIUS, and can be seen as a co-ruler of Aquarius along with Saturn.  There are also no gemstones or mantras traditionally associated with Uranus.
