MARS

{mosimage}

The planet Mars represents action, physicality; personal initiative and self-interest; motivated pursuit of goals and objectives.  Mars is a malefic and rules certain karmic forces: anger, aggression, accidents, injuries, cuts, and burns.  Mars rules the element iron, which is found in many implements of war; therefore during Mars transits or progressions one needs to be careful of sharp metal objects, including knives and razors.  One should never undergo surgery under a Mars affliction, or when Mars is retrograde.

One good outlet for a Mars transit or progression is physical exercise; it is usually best to plan to be active or physical on days highlighted by Mars, otherwise the energies may come out as anger, conflicts, and/or unintentional injuries.

Mars is called Kuja in Vedic Astrology or Jyotish.

Under Mars transits or progressions, when they are tracked, one has access to special windows of opportunity to become more self-assertive and to gain in self-esteem.  Usually under Mars transits one finds oneself in interesting juxtapositions of suppressed anger and a feeling of powerlessness.

Rulership in ARIES and SCORPIO.  Exaltation in CAPRICORN.

Debility in LIBRA and TAURUS.  Fall in CANCER.
