OVERVIEW: The Dog That Bit You....

In an otherwise quiet week astrologically there will be two events of particular note: on Tuesday, December 2, Jupiter enters sidereal Capricorn, and then on Friday, Dec 5, the Sun conjuncts Mars. In fact in looking at the other minor configurations forming this week there may not be much else for me to comment on except these two mid-level portentous events. 

First, the obvious and most likely eventful one: Friday’s Sun/Mars conjunction this will be in sidereal Scorpio quite close to the US natal ascendant (sidereal chart, 5:12 pm, 7-4-1776, Philadelphia, PA).  Since Scorpio is a rather is a rather severe sign, strong feelings could erupt coinciding with events of an equally forceful nature.  An obsessiveness/compulsivity may drive actions, which will be hard to understand without penetrative analysis.  Don’t be too surprised at a little arcane secrecy surrounding things regarding US government and actions at this time. 

But of course those things which are shut away due to unpleasantness have a habit of coming up and biting us on the rear end at the most inopportune times.  Friday, December 5th could be one of those days.  Be sure to thank your lucky stars though you aren’t in the wrong place at the wrong time, as were bystanders in Mumbai, India last week caught in the crossfire of internecine tribal warfare.  Karmically, of course they were all brought together, so you can’t really call them innocents; there were there at the crux of the energy/moment undoubtedly because of some carnage karma of their own. 

The standing still in the sky in an apparent sense of the planet Uranus for us on earth did not help matters, except perhaps to bring out in the open deep dissatisfactions.  While the US press was connecting it to Al Quada, it would seem it was more of a local tribal issue. 

So while Friday may be turbulent and more physically so for some, the more important issue is the bringing to the surface of energy that too long constrained threatens to overheat and breakdown the system; and if these energies are not exercised in a regular manner trouble will ensue. 

For those however who have a habit of regularly exercising their personal assertiveness (instead of repressing it) this could be a day of excelling and record achievement.  But be careful of injuries, especially cuts, burns, and issues involving muscles.  A little bit of heated exchange can be healthy to all relationships; even depending what “heated” means.  Whatever kind of day it is; it will NOT be a day for suppression, repression, or censoring. 

The other event of astrological note is the entering of Jupiter sidereally into the sign/constellation of Capricorn on Tuesday, December 2.  I am using the Raman ayanamsha to get this date, my most accurate timing reference yet; some siderealists may give another specific date for this event. 

Jupiter is in its fall in Capricorn; Jupiter is more concerned with thoughts, ideas, and zealous enthusiasm than with Capricorn’s somber methodicalness, calculation, and pragmatism; or even with its semi-neurotic depravity.  It would seem normal Jupiterean uplift will be somewhat constrained for the next 12 months or so.  It should be an assist though for otherwise “business-only” activities to get an infusion of ideals and higher-dimensional profit-gaining.  Spiritual and religious concepts no doubt will be trying to achieve a greater sort of social acceptance in every day life, and becoming “God” should be less regarded as “flaky”.

The new US administration, you know the one with the Democrat face but really the same old people running the show, will be coming in under this influence.  I don’t think they will be handing out tax refunds or budget surpluses out by the million; except maybe to more banks, big insurance companies, auto makers, and Wall Street investment houses. 

As Jupiter moves into Capricorn, jumping into the same axis as the transiting Nodes, the idea of “prosperity” may be undergoing some interesting permutations; i.e. what is good for some people may not be so good for others.  An obvious theme the new administration may be conveying is that because of the sins of the past (i.e. the bankers, corporations, and cigar-chomping capitalists) we are all going to have to deal with less and pay our collective sacrifice for the good of all.  This is perfect Democratic Party rhetoric (meaning very little intrinsically) but the fact can’t be denied that the “sinners” get off scot-free. 

There is a lot more to be said regarding the global economies now with the Nodes in the Capricorn/Cancer axis and with Jupiter entering the picture, and I hope to get to those soon.  Stay tuned.

Very early on, more in European time zones, Venus and Jupiter will conjunct giving much space and opportunity for happiness, good fortune, and spiritual/artistic growth.  A little later the Sun and Neptune quintile, which may assist in spiritual advancement (lessening the power of the ego), but also possibly bring on toxic thinking and behavior, especially in the realm of self-deception and self-sabotage.  Physical vitality may be at low ebb. 

Tues, Dec 2
Jupiter hops the fence, as it were, and enters new territory: Saturn’s kingdom Capricorn.  This is not a good move on Jupiter’s part according to the traditional rulership scheme, as Jupiter is in its fall there.  Not much may register on the collective consciousness, but sensitive ones may notice a shift of aspirational matters to more socially accepted frameworks; God tries to achieve more legitimacy, so to say.  This will be a social subtext for the next year or so.
