Astro-Success Week of May 16 to 25, 2009

The hits keep coming in May 2009.  Following last week's Saturn/Pluto aspects, this week there will be a tight and potentially powerful lineup of Mercury, Mars, Saturn, and Pluto on Tues, May 19; it will occur with tenth-harmonic aspects (deciles and trideciles).  I dare you to find similar information elsewhere on the world wide web, most astrologers won't tell you about these type of aspects.

On one of the graphs published here, you'll see a convergence of lines noticeably, as well as other aspects forming such as Venus and the Nodes aspecting and Jupiter conjunct Neptune on Wed, May 27.  This graph was whipped up quite hastily, so please forgive the quality of the image. The image is that of the transits of May 2009 in the 36 deg. modulus, all aspects of multiples of 36 deg. (conjunction, decile, tridecile, quintile, biquintile, and opposition) show as crossed lines in the graph; as generated with my Solar Fire program.

What does it mean?  Mercury (retrograding) and Mars act to create a sense of urgency or even hysteria in the mind which can propel the mind to innovative ideas or exhibit necessary assertive force when necessary, but it can also bring out obsessions of thinking, shrill voices, as well as other kinds of meltdowns.  Mercury and Mars acting on Saturn and Pluto only serves to deepen and accentuate their effects.  A word to the wise for Tuesday is don't let a temporary bout of insanity (which we all have) bother you, it will pass very quickly and a clearing of the air can occur.  Be on the lookout for mechanical, electronic, or other types of breakdowns to occur.

Looking ahead you can see on the graph the upcoming conjunction of Jupiter and Neptune the following week.  A conjunction of Jupiter and Neptune basically only occurs every 12 or so years.  What makes this occasion so significant is that just one day later Neptune itself turns retrograde; it will be Jupiter conjunct a very slow (and deep acting) Neptune. So this is a very rare Jupiter/Neptune conjunction

may09graph.jpgWhat does that mean?  I will no doubt have more words about this next week; but you may already be feeling an amplification and near-exaggeration of hope-filled idealism and an enlivening of images, dreams, and delusions that seem to pick you up into heaven.  Heaven is a great place to be of course, the problem is staying there without that plummeting thud that can occur to us.

I would be remiss to not mention potential expansion (Jupiter) of lies and delusions (Neptune) in your mind, which so many talking heads can be so guilty of; and also the further propagation (Jupiter) of viruses, illness, and diseases (Neptune-ruled).

Some would say that viruses are Pluto-ruled, but I think Neptune has some influence over the body's vitality, which will affect resistance to diseases.  I will be speaking  more about this in my ebook on the next few crucial years in astrology for the world, which I am in the process of writing. Hopefully it will be out in the next few weeks.

DAY BY DAY:

Saturday and Sunday, May 16-17
At times this day will feel heavy and burdensome, contrasted by moments of exuberance and spontaneous optimism on Saturday.  This can be a very pivotal weekend for all, unexpected events can occur.  There will also be moments of loss of confidence or hope that cause people to act in less than honorable ways.  Physical vitality may be low opening the way for chronic conditions to flare, addictions may be activated.  (Saturn stationary direct, Sun square Jupiter, Sun sextile Uranus, Sun square Neptune, Sun biquintile Saturn and Pluto)

Monday, May 18
Mental processes may be energized; this can be a key day to make connections.  (Sun conjunct Mercury)

Tuesday, May 19
Intense urgency, possible hysteria, or an aggressive sense of hopelessness, foreboding, or depression could hijack the overall situation for a couple minutes to a couple hours today.  Meltdowns have the eventual benefit of clearing their air; but maintaining a cool head in the face of seeming insanity may help you to find within you powerful incisive mental power to penetrate through problematical situations to their solutions.  Physical, electrical, and mechanical breakdowns are possible.  (Mercury & Mars 10th harmonic aspects to Saturn and Pluto)

Wednesday, May 20
At first muddled thinking may incite discouragement.  Relationships may hit rocky areas, a feeling of distance and icy ill-regard  may come out; but this is a test of and not a threat to relationships.  Pathological feelings coming out may then be dealt with and resolved, especially if both parties don’t give up so easily.  Later a potential overly-upbeat influence may enter in, which may incite further co-dependent behaviors; be careful of seeing too much in situations, or bending of the truth for seemingly expedient reasons.  (Mercury square Jupiter/Neptune, Venus quincunx Saturn)

Thursday, May 21
There may be tangible "kick" as Mars enters the sidereal sign of its rulership, Aries.  Motivations and passions may surge, and an onset of a sort of recklessness may subtly inebriate us initially.  (Mars enters sidereal Aries, Mercury sextile Uranus)

Friday, May 22
Cordiality will be strong, important relationships will form, and issues of power and control in relationships will be brought out.  (Sun semisquare Venus)

Saturday, May 23
The potential to misuse opportunities through guile, subtlety and manipulation will be enhanced.  Unconscious and obsessive urges may seem to eclipse the normal sense of personal boundaries.  Beware of possible breakdowns, but be also on the lookout for personal breakthroughs.  (Sun quincunx Pluto)

Sunday and Monday, May 24-25
No peaking influences

This is a strong astrology week, as it will for the rest of May 2009.  The main player will be Saturn, that
"dark god" in the sky.  I say that somewhat with a wink, but if you scan for Saturn in the night sky it has a grey, coldish appearance.  If you look up to the night sky between 9 and 11 pm you can see Saturn; in the Northern Hemisphere look south, in the Southern Hemisphere look north.  saturnsky2.jpg

There will be three major hits astrologically concerning Saturn this week: it re-aspects Pluto on Wed, May 13, it goes stationary direct Saturday, May 16, and the Sun makes a tenth-harmonic slam to it and Pluto on Sunday, May 17.  Adding fuel to the fire, the Sun will also make a powerful square to transiting Neptune on Sunday.

The chronological epicenter should be on Saturday, May 16, as Saturn makes the station; appearing to stop dead in the sky and return to normal forward motion.  Planet stations the most powerful astrological influences there are, so a station of a malefic planet buttressed by a number of lesser malefic aspects to it should prove to be significant for the entire world.

Emotional stress points will be activated, now is the time to tackle the stuff which we avoided all these years.  Probably the best time to take care of business is when it's knocking at the door.  Knock, knock….Saturn's here!

The aspect of Pluto on Saturn serves to greatly intensify its emotional depth and open the door to profound change.  Pluto can bring up all sorts of magnetic, throbbing energy from the subconscious which may seem quite scary at the time, but it is the rawest form of unfettered change in our lives.

sumasaplmay09.jpgThe pain of societal transitions brought about by corrupt abuses of power may burn all the more acutely: job losses, grief, reactive measures by government, and exacerbated hysteria by fringe crowds.  With Saturn however everybody must remember that it is ultimately a constructive influence, seeking to bring out a more integrated and honorable form of self-hood in all.  This means hold on and don't give up, even when it seems beyond hope.  The eclipsing power of base, universal annihilation is at maximum contrast to Saturn's higher forms of expression.

In the chart image at left all the planets concerned form a harmonic syndrome, Mars and the Sun do not quite form a decile (36 degrees) to each other, but it's close.  Nevertheless aspectual patterns (harmonic syndromes)  like this are  powerful, if you're into sacred geometry you can appreciate its subtlety.

DAY BY DAY:

Sun, May 10
No peaking influences

Mon, May 11
Frustrations at obstacles may flare, making them seem greater than they really are.  The way to react to an opposing or stronger force is not necessarily to try to destroy it, whatever you damage of them you do equally to yourself.  Maintaining calm and self control shows that you may not have ultimate power over the outside environment, at least you have power over yourself.  Power over the self is the first step to real power.  (Mars in Pisces quincunx Saturn retrograde in Leo)

Tuesday, May 12
There could be moments of hysteria, urgency, and irritation; some forceful points may need to be made….however inelegantly they come out.  (Mercury semisquare Mars)

Wednesday, May 13
Building up over the past few days, events and emotions may come to a head triggering substantial changes.  Look for breakthrough, beware of breakdowns (mechanical, bodily, mental, or otherwise).  (Saturn tridecile Pluto)

Thursday and Friday, May 14-15
Be careful how you allocate and spend your precious resources today,  possibly cashing in little too early for some superfluous recreation.  Social events should be very cordial, cultural and spiritual activities are favored.  Beautiful moments in relationships can be at hand, but be careful of over-emotional squandering  which can have sub-themes of escapism in love.  (Venus sesquiquadrate Jupiter, semisquare Neptune)

Mental processes  may be energized; this can be a key day to make connections.  (Sun conjunct Mercury)

Don't Feed the Animals: Astro-Success Week of May 3, 2009

This week on Thursday, May 7, the quicksilverish Mercury slows down to a complete stop in its observable motion, and takes on the appearance of moving backwards or retrograde.  Normally for Mercury this is a three week process, before resuming direct motion once again.

I wouldn't make too much of the retrograde of the inner planets, although their effects are temporarily magnified several times; what should be minded are the stations of the outer planets from Jupiter on.  Even so they don't seem to indicate very much, except for when they are stationing.  monkey.jpg

Nevertheless, on Thursday, May 7, you can expect a surge in verbal/intellectual matters which could seem to be going awry somewhat, and a slight hindering of the normal communicative/analytical functions during the whole three week period.  But don't sweat it, there's plenty of astrology to sweat about with us constantly, which gives me no shortage of stuff to write about here on SWN.

Speaking of stuff to sweat about, there are a number of consecutive days this week with significant malefic levels of astrology, which can cause some of the current monkeys on our backs to grow into 900 pound gorillas.  Remember at the zoo the signs say: “Don't feed the animals.”

So don't feed your problems with a steady stream of worries, anxieties, and colorful imaginations; that is their food and they grow pretty quickly.  Unfortunately other concerns like swine flu hysteria, rising unemployment numbers, bombings in Iraq, and escalations in Afghanistan will not be stopped so easily.  The monsters those problems feed have the power to affect everyone's lives: close schools, crash the economy, or ignite world war three.

Negative astrological configurations bring anxiety, anxieties bring calls for action, calls for action bring things that cannot be easily reversed.  If you know how things are done, it is by covering all the bases, making sure that everything points to the solution that you want to happen, and then finally pushing the button to make it happen.  A little convenient corroboration from the stars, and you've really unleashed an unstoppable force.

On Friday, May 8, just following Mercury turning retrograde, the Sun makes a hard aspect to Pluto; the following day the Sun and Pluto form a contraparallel (move to exact equidistance from the celestial equator), it's quiet on Sunday, and then on Monday Mars makes a nasty quincunx to Saturn.  All in all, this is a very potent brew of astrological events that could stir up the collective psyche of the planet quite deeply.  One might do well to observe and note the events of the next week or so that seem to happen spontaneously, and those that seem to happen with deliberate calculation.

A Larger Trend

May will be quite an important month because there are a number of powerful configurations occurring yet: Saturn trideciles Pluto again (May 13), Saturn makes a station (May 16), Mars trideciles and biquintiles Saturn and Pluto (May 19), Jupiter conjuncts Neptune (May 27), Neptune makes a station (May 28), Mercury makes a station (May 30), and Mars sesquiquadrates Saturn (May 31).  Wow.  This is a lot of stuff happening in a short time frame, and such an important time frame to begin with.

I hope in a short time to publish a report that I am working on detailing the course of the world astrologically over the next two to three years, and I am strongly feeling that the events of the next few weeks will be pivotal to what will be happening specifically winter 2009, summer of 2010, and the beginning of 2011.  The details of those dates are too complex for just one article on SWN, but it will be a lengthy special report full of specific dates, information, and extrapolations.  Stay tuned for that.

DAY BY DAY:

Sun, May 3
No peaking influences

Mon, May 4
The spirit of adventure and enterprise will be sparked off, setting off all sorts of big talkers, haughty strutters, and impulsive attention cravers; however in that large crowd will be a more humble group that actually gets things done; and they will get a good charge today. Good day for a hike, shaking off the fetters, and rolling up your sleeves.  (Mars semisquare Jupiter)

Tues, May 5
Steady, moderate (realistic) progress is favored; no frills or hyperbole.  Unusual and quick relationships may form, brief but interesting and exciting.  (Sun in Aries trine Saturn retrograde in Leo, Venus in Pisces contraparallel Uranus in Pisces)

Wed, May 6
No peaking influences

Thurs, May 7
While the mind may feel sparklingly effervescent, there may be a strong subtext of biases, prejudices, and illusions.  Motivations may come from confused sources, which may contribute to undesirable outcomes.  Base behavioral traits may be energized: escapism, addictions, or manipulation; physical vitality may be at low ebb bring about latent chronic conditions.  (Mercury stationary retrograde, Mars in Pisces semisquare Neptune in Aquarius)

Fri and Sat, May 8 & 9
Abuses of power and extremes of pathological behavior may come out.  Look for breakthroughs; beware of breakdowns.  Before something new can start, something old must die; this could be a landmark weekend in the life of spiritual evolution.  (Sun in Aries sesquiquadrate/contraparallel Pluto retrograde in Sagittarius)

Sun, May 10
No peaking influences

Mon, May 11
Frustrations at obstacles may flare, making them seem greater than they really are.

GRAPH FOR THIS WEEK WILL BE PUBLISHED ON TUESDAY, MAY 5
